What is the difference between a closet designer and a ClosetMaster? Which would you call for custom closets? I will pay twenty dollars to the first correct answer. Email your guess to closettalk@ closet-solutions.com
Who are the best custom closet companies? Right now I'm getting bids from Closet Factory, Closets By Design, and transForm. Do they have marked differences in reputation? Is there anything I need to know about any of them? Is there another company I should be considering?
What would be a good name for my custom closet installation company? We are very small and just getting set-up on our own. We do wire shelving systems and some glass work. Can't use "Custom Clostes" or many other "cutsie" names. I am drawing a complete blank! Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks!
Royal Custom Cabinets & Closets experience? Does anyone have experience with this company in Ontario, Canada? Are they any good/reputable?
Custom Closet Costs? I just bought a new home and need to install a closet in a bonus room being used as a bedroom. Would it be cheaper to buy a custom closet from California Closets or to buy cabinetry (to match the bath and kitchen I'll be updating) that would work as a closet? I'm using a wall that is 10 feet long, standard cieling, perhaps a bit higher.
Alternative To Closet Door? Custom Cut Fabric Designs? Remodeling bedroom that has a smaller walk in closet. I removed the 80"Lx30"W door from the closet for use downstairs. What can I use instead of a door that looks good? The bedroom will be full of furnishings and a computer desk will basically make the door useless so its out. I was thinking a custom cut piece of fabric with some type of design on it. But fabric would need some sort of hook or loop on the top 2 corners to where it can hang right in the doorframe but can quickly be slid or moved for access to closet. Any feedback or ideas are welcome.
What is the best way to store custom figure skates? I have a pair of custom figure skates, but I don't skate competetively so they sit in my closet for long periods of time. I have a black plastic thing that is flat on the bottom for the blade or the cloth scrunchie things. I don't have a bag, box or case for them. Are there any really good ways to store them long term?
How would you advertise high end closet systems? I work for a company that designs/sells/installs custom closet systems in the midwest(similar to California Closets). I am wondering if anyone has any advertising advice for us to market this area of of our business. Any advice or suggestions will be appreciated:)

What type of closet system is better? Wall or floor mounted? I am getting quotes from custom closet companies. Some are wall mounted, some are floor mounted. Which is better?
Is Closetmaid Completions Closet Starter Tower/Kit A Good Value? Is it sturdy? I was looking online at Lowes for a solution to my closet disorganization, and I really like the Closetmaid Completions white laminate starter tower (I think it's 25" wide) for my 6" reach in closet. Is it strong/sturdy? Is it a good value? Would you say it's comparable to Closetmaid's wire closet kits in terms of value and strength? Basically, assuming price isn't an issue, would you recommend the Closetmaid wire kits over the Completions laminate kit (which I can add drawers and doors to if I want)? I prefer the look of the laminate simply because it looks more like a custom closet and I would love some drawers in my closet, but I don't want to get it if it's shoddy and a wire kit would be stronger and more durable. Ideally I'm looking for responses from DIYers and people who have actually had personal experience using either or both of these closet kits. Thanks. :)
Is it possible to cut through veneer-covered particleboard from Ikea without ruining the whole board? I am thinking of buying their "custom" Pax closet organization systems but the 2 sizes they have don't fit, so I want to cut through some of the panels and modify it. Has anyone tried this before? Any advice?
what color goes with burgunday closet doors? I am a teen and im getting a custom made closet in my room with burgandy closet doors and i dont know what color to paint my walls? Anyone know what colors would match besides pink? and also nothing dark. thanks.
Would an Irishman get angry if I were to embroider his name in sequins on the back of all his clothes? What would be your personal reaction if you were to look in your closet and see custom sequin embroidery on the back of all of your clothes?

Custom Shower question about electric panel placement? I am wanting to build a custom shower in the closet of my 1/2 bath. I will be following all the necessary steps from the shower pan, concrete board and tile. I would even get the permit but before I plan this out and talk to the inspector, I have to ask. You see..The only problem I have is that the main electric panel is on the other side of the shower wall. (It would be a side wall in the shower so no water lines would be ran near it) So, on to my question(s) Would this be in code according to the NEC? Basically I'm asking if I can do it with out running into getting electrocuted or running into any other unforeseeable problems w/ the electric panel. I could move the electric panel over about 6 feet away from the wall of the shower. Would anyone have a guesstimate on how much that would cost? Thanks
Hi... whats a good way to design my walk in closet? My closet will be 6 x 10 feet and on one of the longer sides is a door. There's a window on one of the shorter sides. I was going to get a custom closet system... What are some tips for designing my closet?
How do I get my adult dog to stop chewing up EVERYTHING? I recently rescued a one and a half year old Westie mix. In the last few days, she has been chewing up everything she can get her cute little teeth on. She just pulled a brand new pair of jeans from my closet and gave them a custom grunge look. How do I break her of this before she breaks me?!
How do you replace closet doors that aren't a standard size? I've got a metal bi-fold closet door in my bedroom which probably dates back to the mid-1970s. It never open and shut easily, but now it's completely come off its tracks -- so I'd like to take this opportunity to replace it. The problem is that it's 8 feet tall (floor-to-ceiling) and standard closet door sizes are now only 80 inches (6 feet, 8 inches) tall. According to the folks at Lowes, it would cost me $400 to get a very ugly hollow-core door custom-made and installed -- way more than I'd want to pay for ANY closet door!! Any suggestions on how to replace my closet door in a reasonably inexpensive way -- or who else I might contact to get information about how to address this issue? Thanks in advance for any help you can provide!
Does anyone know where I can find large closet doors like the IKEA Pax doors? I am building a closet in the family room. The closet width is 140" wide. I would like doors that are higher than the standard 80" high. Most of the doors are custom and expensive. The best place I found was the IKEA Pax sliding doors. Does anyone know where I can find or make custom sliding doors for under a few hundred dollars? Possibly made in laminate or etched glass?
Where can I find small doors for an under stairs storage space? I am planning a layout for finishing my basement. I have some usable space under the basement stairs that I plan to make a storage closet. The space that is available dictates that the door be 3' 6" high at the highest. The door will also be about 27-28 inches wide. So I was wondering if anyone could give me some good sources for custom sized doors. Nothing fancy or expensive. Also, if anyone knows where I can find some information on building my own door, that would be useful. Thanks!

Someone suggested a fabric bulletin board, covering my entire wall. I have closets on the available wall, so I'd need a custom job.

Is now a good time to buy part ownership into a small business? I work for a small business in Nashville TN. I am the installer/contractor for my 2 bosses who each own 50% of the business. There are 2 divisions,(custom closets and shutters/blinds)One of my bosses is getting close to wanting to retire and wants to sell his share of the business. I would get a better price than an person outside the company would get. I have worked here for a year and a half and the business is 5 years old. It did about 800,000 dollars in business it's 4'th year, and was projected to do 1.1 million this year if not for the economy's situation. instead it will only make about 500,000. Also, this makes the buy-in-price lower as it is calculated from the previous years revenue. I am 26 years, father of 2, homeowner, old and would get a year or two of good advice from both of my boss before he retires. What questions and concerns should I have before making a decision. I have the option of buying 25% or 50%. Please give me your opinion on any thoughts you have regarding my situation. Thanks
what should i get for an enclosure and alternator for 2 15" kicker L7's? ok, i almost have everything i need sitting in my closet: i decided to go with 2 15" kicker L7's 2 Ohm DVC and a zx2500.1 amp to power them, and i have a zx350.4 to power my front components and rear door speakers. Now the advice i seek: i need a ported enclosure to put the 2 15's in (1995 Chevy Suburban). what do you recommend i should get, a custom made box?, if so what are the most common/popular dimensions? or should i go with a prefab kicker enclosure that is made for the 2 15's? ...wait theres more... i know i need to get a HO alternator. how many amps should it be? should i pay the $400.00 for the Mean Green Alternator? or is there a lesser alternator that will suit this system just fine? please add any advice or tips if ive left anything out, thank you.
Want to make my own closet dooors!? My closet doors are huge! They are 91 1/2 " tall and vary in width from closet to closet. I want to build them myself because I believe they will be a little cheaper and I love custom things. Any advice on how to do this? Interesting materials? Web sites that have pics for inspiration? Personal stories and experiences? I would appreciate anything! Thank you in advance!

Custom built, or cookie cutter? When looking at houses, we were shown a new subdivision where we could have a house built, but we had to take one of their pre-set plans and are aloud very few (read:none) alterations, except color. What differences can I expect in wanting a similair house built in a different location, with a few changes made? Different kitchen layout, a bay window, not having the more expensive square cuts in the cieling, slightly enlarging master the bathroom (cut into closet space if necessary) and installing a jet tub, adding a non existant pantry (willing to cut into living room for this, its large enough but I -need- a pantry) and moving and slightly enlarging the laundry room...which I would be willing to cut into the garage for. I would also want it in a different, and likely less expensive location...I'm not a fan of bieng surrounded by neighbors in nearly identicle houses. About what kind of difference do you think I could expect in cost, procedure, time, and general headache caused?
how do you make a door and jamb? i am moving coat closet in my home and the opening i have is approximately 22 inches. all doors at the home improvement stores go from 18 to 24 in openings. does anyone have any suggestions on how to make a custom door with out paying the custom price.
With Yahoo custom avatar T-Shirts, why does Yahoo only give options for T-shirts with liberal activist causes? Is Yahoo run by liberals? If so, shouldn't they come out of the closet with it? Why not give an option for a T-shirt for my avatar with a conservative cause like Pro-Life? Or why not let me choose a T-shirt for my avatar with a religious them like one that says, "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I dedicated you, a prophet to the nations I appointed you."? (Jeremiah 1: 5) .
Any ideas for building a custom armoire? My daughter's bedroom doesn't have a closet, so I want to "create" an armoire. I don't want something as tall (or expensive) as a regular clothes armoire, because she's got crazy slanted ceilings, and I don't have much woodworking experience to build something from scratch... so I'm looking for creative, crafty ideas for turning something else into an armoire... thoughts?? sorry, I probably should have made it more clear that I'm looking to make something where I can hang stuff. She has a bureau for most of her clothes, but some things I'd like to hang (dresses and stuff)... but maybe turning the trunk on it's side and installing a rod would work.. thanks!
How do I get my custom contents to show up properly in Sims 2? So I downloaded the thing (medieval dress) and then I go to create a sim and when i go to the dressing part I saw these same copies of sets of clothes with the star like thing on them but they are not the medieval dress so how do I get them to be the medieval dress? So I thought that maybe if place them in the lot they will be wearing the medieval dress but they weren't so I go to the closet and have them where the dress with star thing on it but they wouldn't so i took my sims to shopping place and have them try on the clothes with the stars on them and when they did there was no clothes their head was the only thing visible.
Is there any way to get wireless (RF) Dreamcast controllers? I have a wall mount LCD in my room, with electronics in the bedroom closet, and I would prefer not to have Dreamcast controller extension cables running across the room. There are a ton of classic games I have not found comparable replacements for on other systems. If there's even a way I can put custom electronics into my Dreamcast controllers, I would take the time to do it.
So I'd like to get new closet doors installed.....? and I want them to be custom. (I do not have the measurements in my head) I want: SLATE (so i can draw with chalk on them) sliding (because my old fashioned doors take up too much space) yes i know chalkdust (i vacuum often) so where can I get some??
What is the best way to store bags, purses, etc.? I live in the Philippines so it's quite warm and humid here. Between my Mom and I we have about a hundred bags. From leather - plastic - fabric, in all sizes, and from the really expensive ones like LV, Bally, Lanvin to cheap chic ones from flea markets. Right now we store all the bags in our attic, so far it's pretty organized (by color) in a custom made closet (wood). Some of the bags that come with a cloth bag to store them in, are in it, then we put them in plastic (we use the plastic that comes with your dry clean). Some of the bags are just stored in the plastic. Some people have told us that its bad for the bag because the moist from the humidity is locked in and would cause some of the bags to mold or the leather will crack... But we are worried that if we take them out of the plastic bags it will accumulate dust or would be victims of rodents and insects. Please I really need some advice on how to store bags properly. We would really hate to lose our bag collection.

How about now (politicians) follow this example? Costa Mesa's illegal-immigration crackdown highlights the fears of many Activists worry that the city's enforcement of federal laws would affect more than just those guilty of serious crimes. By Jennifer Delson, Times Staff Writer January 30, 2007 In a city that has clashed loudly and publicly over immigration laws, the arrest of Marcelino Tzir Tzul underscored the worst fears in Costa Mesa's Latino community. The 37-year-old illegal immigrant from Guatemala was picked up for riding his bicycle on the wrong side of the street, brought before a federal agent at the city jail and then shipped to a federal lockup to await his likely deportation. For months, Latino activists had worried that Costa Mesa's decision to become one of the nation's first cities to enforce federal immigration laws would result in people such as Tzir being swept off the streets. "This is exactly what we feared," said Amin David, who heads Los Amigos of Orange County, a Latino advocacy group. But others, including the mayor of Costa Mesa, applaud the crackdown, even if it means that people who have committed minor crimes are caught in the process. "I believe illegal immigration is wrong. It's breaking the law," said Mayor Allan Mansoor, an Orange County sheriff's deputy. During a three-week period in December, 46 Latino men picked up in Costa Mesa were taken to the Mira Loma Detention Center in Lancaster to await deportation hearings. Half were held on misdemeanor charges. Tzir, who came to this country illegally in 2005, was headed to work on a chilly January morning when his luck ran out. A religious man who kept a Bible by his bed and three cheap suits in a closet for nightly church services, Tzir had come to Costa Mesa to send money home to his wife and three children. Wearing work boots and a blue sweatshirt stained from the previous day's work, Tzir rode his blue mountain bike down Placentia Avenue, through the heart of the town's Latino community. When he turned left on Hamilton Street, an officer stopped him and told him he was riding on the wrong side of the road. He also didn't have a bicycle license. Without an ID, Tzir was taken to the city jail, where a federal agent recently assigned to the city determined he was in the country illegally. Before he could alert family or friends, he was shipped to the lockup in Lancaster to await a deportation hearing. "The sin I committed was to enter this country illegally," Tzir said in a recent jailhouse interview in Spanish. "I regret the pain I have caused my family, but I will leave with my head held high because I know that all I did here was to work hard." Although Tzir's crime was minor, many of those swept up in Costa Mesa in December were arrested on serious charges. Of 20 arrest records the city was able to provide, most involved men in their mid-20s charged with crimes such as selling drugs and burglary. One involved a 19-year-old accused of having sex with a minor. Virginia Kice, a spokeswoman for U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, said one man had an arrest record in five states and had been deported three times. Another had drug convictions and had been deported five times, she said. Wendy Leece, who was recently elected to the City Council, said having the agent in the jail would make the community a safer place. "There are a broad spectrum of crimes being committed," Leece said. "Maybe some are misdemeanors, but they are lawbreakers." By the time Tzir was able to call his wife, news of the ongoing crackdown had drifted through the city's immigrant community. Rumors about immigration raids and tips on avoiding the police spread. "Do the police want to pluck people off the streets like him when there are so many people who commit real crimes?" wondered the Rev. Oscar A. Ramirez of Iglesia Fuente de Amor (Fountain of Love Church) in Costa Mesa, where Tzir taught Bible classes. Others in Costa Mesa — where the immigration debate has colored local elections, drawn the attention of groups such as the Minuteman Project and become the fodder of national talk radio — see no shame in someone such as Tzir being picked up and ultimately deported. "The law is the law, and we need to enforce it, not here and there. They are all criminals the minute they step across the border," said Jason Mrochek, director of the Federal Immigration Reform & Enforcement Coalition, which runs anti-illegal-immigrant protests throughout Southern California. Tzir said he felt reluctant to sneak into the United States and did so only because of a pressing need for money. In Guatemala, he was a nurse in a rural health center outside Quiriguá, a small town best known for its Mayan ruins, where he dispensed prescription medicines, helped deliver babies and tended to the injured. He earned a college degree in health and studied the Bible so he could become a minister. When his employer cut his salary from $782 to $339 a month, he and his wife feared the money wouldn't be enough to make ends meet. "I felt all the doors closed to me, and I needed quick relief," Tzir said. Tzir's wife called a relative in Costa Mesa for help. The relative, who worked as a nanny in an Orange County home and declined to be identified because she also is in the country illegally, said she decided to pay a smuggler $14,000, which she had saved, to bring Tzir, as well as her own son, to Costa Mesa. When he arrived in Costa Mesa, Tzir said he found work quickly, pulling in about $400 a week. "He was motivated by the opportunities in this country," said roommate Marcos Roa, 53, a waiter in a Costa Mesa restaurant. "He dreamed of bringing his wife and children here." At first he lived with a relative but later moved into an aging apartment complex on Hamilton Avenue, where he paid $225 a month to share a bedroom. He cooked his own food, read the Bible and books on the English language, and spent four nights a week at the Iglesia Fuente de Amor, an Assemblies of God church, where once a week he taught Bible classes. Rudy Sandoval, a fellow Guatemalan who hired Tzir to install hardwood floors, said they spent much of their free time talking about the Bible and their faith. "He was serious. No liquor. No smoking. No women," said Sandoval's wife, Elma. "Not even a curse word." The night before he was picked up by police, Sandoval said, Tzir talked about how much he missed his family, saying, "What am I doing here? I've got to go home." Costa Mesa Police Chief Christopher Shawkey, a former Phoenix police commander recently named to the city's top police post, said his department was simply enforcing the law as it always had. "No dictate has been issued …. We're not going to change our enforcement policies because of this," Shawkey said. "We need to remain consistent." Shawkey said he called the Orange County Human Relations Commission to determine how to alleviate fears about the federal agent, but no decisions have been made. "I would hope that the community would still have trust in the Police Department," Shawkey said. For local Enriqueta Monterroso, who said she entered the United States illegally eight years ago, the crackdown has awakened memories. "I feel like I did in my last days in Guatemala when we thought the army would arrest us for any little thing," she said. Tzir, who is expected to remain jailed until his likely Feb. 13 deportation date, said he realized it was wrong to sneak into the United States. But, he said, the issue was far more complex than that. "There is no question that I broke the law," Tzir said. "But it's very clear that immigrants are the motor of the most powerful economy in the world. Immigrants have a value. They do what Americans will not do."
Would you call this girl spoiled?? If a girl gets almost everything she wants from her parents but works very hard at school like a straight A student. Lives in a 2 story custom house. Has two closets, an iPhone, pink suffle, blue nano, pink verizon razr, micheal kors handbags, 2 chanel handbags, 1 louis vuitton, pink prada purse, and over 50 handbags. She travels first class. Goes to a private school that costs 15,000 a year. Shops a lot. Owns a lot of designer stuff. She has two rooms and two bathrooms, and she got to redocorate both of her rooms 2 times in 2 years (from PBTeen). Would you consider this girl to be a brat? pink shuffle* Well she does chores though and earns money for something if she really wants it but her parents won't get it for her. She's not mean or stuck up either. 2 iPods because nano almost broke but then got fixed kinda stupid but oh well. 2 cell phones sounds stupid but it's because the Razr was verizon and they couldn't end the contract and she did chores for the iPhone. So she earned it basically. Thanks for answering most of you guys were nice! Oh anyways to answer that girls question she redecorated it twice because she moved after a year so basically once in each house. The purses aren't all designer only 8 or something but a lot of them are like totes from A&F and Vera bradley and etc.
Would you dare wear the same dress for more than 100days? Well, heres a good way to go about it...! Wellington, Aug 23 (ANI): Fashion conscious women wouldn't dare to wear the same dress for more than one occasion, but India-born Sheena Matheiken has been wearing the same black dress with different accessories for the more than 100 days, and setting a new trend. A creative director at a web-design company in Midtown, Matheiken has been wearing the same dress with different accessories like think patterned tights, funky hats, glittering jewels and retro footwear for the past 110 days. And she intends to wear it every day until May 1, 2010. Sheena actually has seven identical dresses, one for each day of the week in 2009-10, created by her friend, a little-known New York designer named Eliza Starbuck. The dress is a button-up, cotton shift that can be worn front and back or as an open tunic over pants, tights or shorts. With no experience in fashion, Matheiken came up with the idea as a way of raising money for not-for-profit organisation the Akanksha Foundation, which helps educate poor children in India by paying for the compulsory uniforms and other educational expenses that can prevent children from going to school. Matheiken posts a picture every day of how she is wearing the "uniform" and within 100 days, she had raised about 10,000 dollars."This is about making it fun and finding a way to blend style and sustainability. These two things don't have to be mutually exclusive. It's all about getting creative," Stuff.co.nz quoted Matheiken as telling essentialStyle magazine. "We have been inundated with emails from people who want to donate accessories from their closets and design custom pieces for the uniforms. It's been incredible," she added."The hats and plumes, the dickys and drapes, the shoes and slips, the belts and brooches - much of what you will see are byproducts of my cyber-stalking on eBay and Etsy, backed by visits to the many local vintage boutiques, thrift stores and flea markets of New York," she said on her website. The exercise has become an international phenomenon and Matheiken and Starbuck are now planning to put the dress on the market to further their fund-raising efforts. (ANI)
How should my boyfriend and I go about getting things ready for our baby? Okay, so, I am 23 weeks pregnant, and tomorrow we find out if it's a boy or girl. My boyfriend and I said we were going to start buying baby stuff once we find out the gender, but we have absolutely no money save up. My mom gave me $3,000 for baby furniture, but we're still going to need a little bit of more money. What I was thinking of doing is once we have $500 saved up (Which will take us about a month to save), we will go shopping for the baby, and we will keep up this routine until everything is ready. Also, my dad has a huge room, and my room is very small, and there's no extra room for the baby so my dad is being nice enough to switch rooms with me, which means that we're going to need to buy all new furniture because all the furniture in my room is custom made from closet world and it is all attached together. All I need though is a dresser, tv stand, and desk. I have no idea how to go about this, and it is driving me crazy. Would it make sense to buy all of my furniture on credit, or would that be a stupid move? Is it too early to start buying baby stuff, anyways? I want to get all of my furniture and the baby furniture first, so that way we will have the room ready and we will be able to see how everything is going to fit, etc. Can someone please give me some advice on what you think would be the best way to go about this? Thanks!
What is a Petition to Cure? I received one from my landlord. And what do I do about this?? I moved into an apartment. Landlady died a week before. I have been living there since March '07 and he son is now selling the property. He without informing me sent real estate people to call me to ask me to allow them to show the apt. I am angry because before I moved I invested close to $3K in comopletely gutting out the place and puting new carpets, linoliums, premiium paint, custom shelving in closet... and I dont want to have to move leaving all of this for his profit? My lease expires in Feb'08.
have you heard of "salting someone"? (placing a photo of someone in a shoebox then cover the photo with salt) Someone's mother told my friend about this custom. apparently she uses it to rid her life of her son's girlfriends she doesn't care for. she places a photo of the girl in a shoebox, covers with salt, then places the shoe box ina closet and forgets about it. she says that the girlfriend leaves and becomes a non-issue. an old wives tale i'm assuming. just curious :)

What exactly are Gay customs and societal norms? I posted a question earlier which I've since deleted, but I've recently come out of the closet...I thought that being gay was just like....a hetwrosexual relationship except the partners of the same sex...love is love. But, I guess there are some customs/things that are commonplace in gay society that aren't as common with heterosexual couples. I wa just wondering if you guys could give me an insight, because I wasn't as aware of thsi before. So basically What are courtship rules? Anything that's offensive that shouldn't be done? Just anything...to help me fit in more with gay society and get my skewed perception fixed. Please do not bash me or say that there aren't any cutoms...I didn't thniok there were customs until I got some responses...
109 entrants discovered at drop house how do they have $ 2000-$3000 to get here? Illegal aliens. Foreign scoflaws. The FedGov was incorporated in part so the individual States wouldn't have to declare war on a foreign power and thereby draw other States into war. Works good. Real good.A team of plainclothes Border Patrol agents found 109 illegal entrants Tuesday in squalid living conditions in a drop house about 60 miles south of Tucson, authorities said Wednesday. The illegal border crossers were arrested, the home was seized, and six illegal entrants will likely face prosecution for human smuggling in connection with the operation of the drop house, said Sean King a U.S. Border Patrol spokesman. The case began when agents in Rio Rico — an area known for human smuggling — saw a vehicle with several passengers and later saw that same vehicle with no passengers, King said. They questioned the driver and found out he was in the country illegally, and he led them to the drop house, King said. Border Patrol agents seized the vehicle. King said living conditions in such drop houses — where smugglers hold illegal entrants until they can move them north — can be abhorrent. The entrants use buckets for toilets because the overloaded plumbing gets clogged. The homes aren't cleaned as migrants move through them, and unsanitary conditions escalate, he said. In this case, more than 100 illegal entrants were crammed into a three-bedroom home littered with soiled clothing and garbage, King said. Several women and children were preparing food in a kitchen littered with paper plates. Each room in the house was filled with people except for the master bedroom, which appeared to be the smugglers' living quarters. That room had two mattresses on the floor and closets filled with personal items, King said. Otherwise, the house had no furniture, blankets or anything that would provide comfort. "The smuggler doesn't care" about conditions in the house, King said. "All he's doing is keeping them there until he can move them north and get paid." Thirty-four of the illegal entrants were female and 75 were male. Twelve were under age 18. The Border Patrol usually will find drop houses every other week, often with about 30 illegal entrants, but sometimes as many as 70, King said. Smugglers usually limit the number of border crossers in each house to keep from attracting attention. They hold the illegal entrants for short periods then move them to Tucson or Phoenix, King said. The smugglers keep them in the houses until their family members can afford to have them released. "They're basically being held for ransom," he said. Arizona has become a "transportation hub" for smugglers, said Lauren Mack, a spokeswoman for Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Smugglers will often take the illegal border crossers to Phoenix because it's farther from the border than Tucson and they can blend into the metropolitan area. The smugglers will then make arrangements to move them to different parts of the country. Immigration and Customs Enforcement works to find drop houses where illegal entrants are being held against their will, King said. Sometimes smugglers will demand more money from the entrants or abuse them once they're in the United States, she said. Recently, there has been a decrease in the number of such houses found in areas like Phoenix and Tucson, but that could be because migration patterns fluctuate, Mack said. "What we're trying to do is dismantle these organizations from the top level," she said. To do that, investigators track the large sums of money illegal entrants pay. Smugglers usually receive $2,000 to $3,000 per migrant to move a person from Mexico to the United States, Mack said. The cost can increase, depending on the method of entry and whether a family wants to stay together. One way Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials follow that money is by tracking wire transfers, a common way smugglers get paid. To launder the money, sometimes smugglers will try to sneak cash into Mexico, deposit it at a bank or exchange house and bring it back into the United States, Mack said. The agency works with banks and exchange houses on both sides of the border to find the smugglers, Mack said. The smugglers "are very organized," King said. "They have a way to get (illegal entrants) from Chiapas, Mexico, to Tennessee." In May, agents discovered 118 migrants at another house in Rio Rico. The Border Patrol said at the time that it was one of the largest drop-house discoveries in Arizona in recent years. That same month, agents in Yuma found more than 150 illegal entrants in three separate drop houses within a week. Busting the drop houses can be dangerous for Border Patrol agents because human smugglers are often involved with drugs and will violently protect their financial assets, King said. Smugglers will guard the door to make sure no one leaves and keep an eye out for authority, King said. There was no evidence of drug smuggling in this situation, but taking more than 100 people involuntarily into custody can still be a dangerous process, King said. The agents involved in this drop-house discovery were members of the Border Patrol's Disrupt team. The agents work in civilian clothes, conduct surveillance and rely on calls and information from the community to conduct their operations.

Faux wood blinds.? I am considering importing faux wood blinds. Is there anyone on here that has done this be4? Would love to briefly speak to someone about this. I will be selling them retail and just don't want to get stuck with a container load of blinds. Sorry for not making myself clearer on this. I will have a maket as the blinds I can import look nicer when installed my me. And my price would include installation. To answer the answers that ask why would someone buy them from me rather than a big box outlet. My would be custom and installed. I am already selling the person a closet system, mirrors for baths and a shower enclosure. So my foot is in the door. My biggest concerns was shipping cost and customs. Also shelf life. Thanks for any other replys. Thanks for any replys.
Bathroom vanity - help!? We have a nook between a wall and linen closet in our new bathroom where the bathroom vanity and sink will go. Problem is it's 41.5 inches wide. Only standard vanities are 40" - are we forced to get custom cut counters? Otherwise what do we do with this space between the walls?
