Office Closets

Decorating ideas for an office?

i"m 18 and I just got permission from my parents to redo an old unused closet into an office for me. It's a very small closet, just big enough for me to put a tiny table and chair in with a little bit of extra room. I'm very creative. I like to sew, draw, paint, and other stuf like that. But most of all I really like photography. I would really like to frame a lot of my black and white pictures on the wall. So I want a color pallette that is very inspiring, that would bring out the creative side of me, but it also has to go well with the black and white photos I'm going to put up. So if you have any color ideas, I would appreciate the input. I'm opewn to anything from calming and relaxing to funky and crazy. If you know of any good websites that would show some pictures of different color palleattes for something like this I would really like to see pictures, but ideas are still great too! it's a small space, so anything that will make it seem more spacious is great!

  1. www.deviantart.com good luck
  2. A great color to inspire is a deep, rusty brick. The black and white photos will look great against it and pop. Because the space is tiny, I would go out and take a photo of any landscape that you find inspiring i. e. forest, ocean, mountains...even a park or cityscape that you always enjoy, blow it up, frame it and put it in the center with your smaller photos around it. This way you can always look out on your "window" . You can put a small light above to shine down on it , giving the space an art-gallery feeling.
  3. paint 1 longer wall with vertical stripes (ex: lime green, bubblegum blue & yellow OR orange, hot pink & purple), the other walls w/ white. that colored wall will be focal point of the room, u should hang your series of blk&wht photos in blk frame (w/ wht board borders) randomly there. i assume that u got a shorter wall, your working area should be there, your desk would fit just right there from end to end. at the other side for your sewing machine. u can put shelves (w/ invisible brackets- try to look at the depot) on the other wall (across the colored wall) for your materials & some closed built-in cabinets for your stock/materials, to lessen the clutter! try to adjust the depth of the shelves / cabinets coz u got a limitted space (about 20cm for the shelves, 30cm for the cabinets). color the shelves / cabinet with dark brown or black. organize!
  4. HGTV.com has a library of design ideas and also a section where you can take a room and change colors, fabrics, patterns, to see how it would look. I am a full time artist of scupture and exotic wildlife on canvas-also love playing with digital photos. I had problems with too much color so I stay warm and nuetral now and am always happier in my studio. Besides, if I get a wild hair I can change the art. Right now I have a soft buttery yellow-with a tiny bit of tan in it- not too "yellow" with a wall of corkboard squares over my drawing table to pin up ideas, photos and other fun cutouts. Simple is best so it stays bigger and cleaner and you see your ideas and art. Remember; "Life is short, But art is forever!" ;0)
  5. paint three walls of your closet beige. paint one wall burgundy or maroon and create a collage of all your black and white photos. the contrast of the dark wall and black and white photos would make the wall look three dimension. the ceiling also paint it beige so as to give you an illusion of bigger space where the walls and ceiling blend together. put a large flourescent fixture on the ceiling to light up the whole place.
