Can older Pokémon cards be used in Organised play?
I have a massive collection of cards from the first generation of Pokémon TCG (ie Fossil, Jungle) and a working knowledge of play. I have recently bought some newer cards. Are cards from the aforementioned era allowed in organised play tournaments? If relevant, can first generation and modern cards be mixed in competition decks? Thanks. And yes, I have checked out the Pokémon organised play and TCG websites. Also, IMO, the old cards aren't that much weaker than the none-ex new ones. Please give evidence

- i dont think you can use the older cards in tournaments, i may be wrong im not really sure but most the older cards are weak as crap compared to the newer ones, you might wanna try looking it up on the pokemon website to find out.
- you can use older cards in the new tournaments just like in yugioh
- why not use a Charizard or Mewtwo? Pokemon has made the cards so that they can never change formats so much that it effects the game, the rules may be slightly different but the cars are still playable.
- i don't play the TCG but I know that unfortunately the answer is a solid no. I am facing the same dilemma if I decide to get back into the game... I could be wrong about this but I think that EX:Deoxys or something is the oldest set you can use now (but that could have changed since I last heard anything about restrictions). However, the old cards are "weak as crap now" because there are now LvX Pokémon that sometimes act as a quasi-Stage 3 Pokémon (making for some awesome cards), e.g. when I had yet to move on to Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG-wise I think my cousin had an Aggron LvX card I imagine that was a force to be reckoned with don't you? In recent sets though they have even made a Palkia LvX and a Dialga LvX which I think are indeed very good.
