Custom Shower question about electric panel placement?

I am wanting to build a custom shower in the closet of my 1/2 bath. I will be following all the necessary steps from the shower pan, concrete board and tile. I would even get the permit but before I plan this out and talk to the inspector, I have to ask. You see..The only problem I have is that the main electric panel is on the other side of the shower wall. (It would be a side wall in the shower so no water lines would be ran near it) So, on to my question(s) Would this be in code according to the NEC? Basically I'm asking if I can do it with out running into getting electrocuted or running into any other unforeseeable problems w/ the electric panel. I could move the electric panel over about 6 feet away from the wall of the shower. Would anyone have a guesstimate on how much that would cost? Thanks

  1. move the panel ,or become "really" good friends with your inspector
  2. LOL I'm not even sure if a "friendly" inspector would go for that. Even if he did, just to be on the safe side move the panel. Remember, water and electricity don't go together, keep one away from the other. You never know what's going to pop up later on down the line!
